Fabulous Ferns
A burst of fresh greenery in a home can do wonders. What better way to achieve that than with fabulous ferns!
The fresh look of ferns can be delightful through the seasons. It is no wonder fern patterns have been cropping up in home decor! Whether your style is traditional, transitional, or contemporary – you can find a way to incorporate fabulous ferns into any room. Let me show you my favorite ways!
Draperies
For my 1923 farmhouse, I chose a fabric with a green fern design for my draperies. The earthy colors in the print perfectly accent my new white kitchen!
The “Les Fougeres” print from Schumarcher Co. is a 100% linen fabric – and fun fact! It is a documentary print from the legendary Elsie De Wolfe, who is considered by many as the first interior designer!
I paired the fabulous ferns print with natural woven wood shades, pine planked flooring, and a green Ballard Designs checkered fabric. The warmth of the Schumacher fern print works beautifully with the rest of the room as those warm tones reappear throughout.
Dining Room Tables
For table runners and placemats, I found the C & F “Althena” pattern through Amazon, and they are just perfect! Washable, quilted, and easy for every day – what more could you want!
Another use for these fabulous ferns is wall art! Like this pair that is printed on wood plaques:
For a More Transitional or Contemporary Style
Be inspired by the greens of ferns for an accent paint color or go for an abstract take on the fern!
Accent Decor
Pillows can be a fun statement piece! Especially ones that take advantage of earthy tones against lighter furniture, like I did in our farmhouse.
Another fun way to play with the print seasonally is to refresh bedding. Treat you guests to fun bedding like this one from Ballard Designs!
And, don’t leave your pets out of the fun!
The Refreshing Look of Fresh
My favorite way to utilize fabulous ferns is outdoor decor! You can use them inside too, but there is such a refreshing ambiance from ferns placed around your porches, sunrooms, and decks!
Enjoy the timelessness and classic addition to ferns for your home!
