Farmhouse Accessories
Whether you are starting from scratch or finishing off a recent project, it can be hard to find those last few accessories! Keep reading for my tried-and-true tips for the perfect farmhouse accessories.
Pottery and Plates
Vases, plates, and jars – oh my! So many different choices for pottery. These farmhouse accessories can be found in abundance at your favorite vintage vendor or purchased new. The Majolica pitcher pictured above was found at a flea market. We are constantly using it in our farmhouse. Fresh or faux florals work perfectly year round!
A personal favorite way to utilize my plate collection is on an armoire in our living room. Such a fun alternative to traditional art displays.
You can use colored ceramic as an accent piece, like these rose colored ceramic plates! They are a favorite farmhouse accessory of mine in the summer!
Or the quintessential humble crock. Invented in the 1800’s, this is a country must have that has so many uses depending on the size! I have one on our porch to hold a large fern.
I love a good vintage find, but you can also find vintage inspired ones for a more curated look. The containers below were ordered from one of my designer sources.
Printed Throw Pillows
I searched a long time to find the right combination of pillows for the living room. It is all about finding the right mix of prints. My favorite prints for farmhouse accessories are from William Morris. If you want to learn more about him, I talk extensively about his designs in my TRENDING: Morris & Co. Prints blog!
I chose another William Morris print for a pillow in my sister’s farmhouse guest room. It perfectly compliments a handmade family crib quilt.
Lamps and Lighting
When it comes to light fixtures for farmhouse accessories – I like to stick with the updated vintage feel. Older electric lamps often had brass, iron, or ceramic with a plain lampshade added. For chandeliers and pendants, I choose fixtures that look like they could have been handmade.
The farmhouse style is so easily adaptable. With the right farmhouse accessories, a little Midwest and Southern flair, and a touch of rustic interior design – you have the perfect mix!
See you next time!
