Trending Now – Upholstery Styles and Fabrics
‘Tis the season! No – not the holidays, Highpoint Market season! The annual Highpoint Market in Highpoint, North Carolina is where all of the trending upholstery styles and fabrics will be on display. Industry leaders will have hundreds of their showrooms filled with exciting new furnishings for visiting wholesale buyers from all around the world. All the latest trends will be displayed here before they enter the marketplace! I am going to share with you a few of my favorite trending upholstery styles and fabrics. These gems have found their way into recent client projects, too!
Curved Furniture
My favorite way to show off the contemporary curved style of sofa, like this one from Charles Stewart, is to use a pair to flank a fireplace. You can also place them in the center of a room to show off the sculpted silhouettes! For a more subtle effect, these curved sofas nestle into a corner very well for a cozy take on the trend like in this client’s master bedroom sitting area.
Many of my clients’ homes have large windows overlooking the outdoors. What better way to take advantage than a secretly swiveling statement chair? Curved-back chairs are often available as swivel chairs, and it perfectly pairs function and form! The wood trim in this Lexington Home Brands “Semarang” chair elevates it to the next level. I recently used a pair in a client’s home with an ocean view and they were the perfect fit.
Ultra-cozy, book-by-the-fire more your style? This deep, fully upholstered Hickory White chair is made even comfier with a matching throw pillow.
Winged Chairs and Headboards
…And it’s all just a little bit of history repeating! One thing you can be certain of is trends coming back over time. The perfect example? Winged chairs. These chairs have been popular for over 300 years and fresh takes on the classic style are all over this year. Take a look at these from Lexington Brands.
This upholstered bed elevates any bedroom whether it is traditional or contemporary! This headboard from Hickory White has a sleek low footboard so –an added bonus– it’s easy to make! The side wings add a little flair and sense of shelter.
Newsworthy Ottomans and Benches
This square Lexington Home Brands cocktail ottoman takes center stage in my client’s new family room! The burnished copper tray and antique brass nail heads add to its vintage-y vibes.
If you are looking for more open and airy, these benches from the Tommy Bahama Lexington Home Brands line are perfect! I ordered a pair of these for a coastal project. They are placed on each side of the great room fireplace. While it’s use is extra seating, the twisted Lampakanay rope covered bases are beautifully unique.
Accent Pillows
What would a trending upholstery and fabrics blog be without touching on accent pillows? My favorite way to spice up any space! My favorite are from Eastern Accents. Based out of Chicago, IL – the inserts are down and they have hundreds of trims, shapes, and sizes! With so many choices, I always find what I need.
Stay tuned for the rest of my “Trending Now” series!
Until next time,
