Make Your Porch a Holiday Haven
With the warmth of the summer long gone, it is time to turn my front porch into our own holiday haven.
When it is time to get into the Christmas spirit, my porch is the first place I turn! There is something so magical about our 101-year-old farmhouse all dressed up for the holidays.
My lovely spring and summer slipcovers and décor have found their winter home in the basement. It is time for our Christmas décor to take center stage! I focus on using a deeper green as my “neutral” of sorts and incorporate a mixture of Christmas pillows and evergreens.
I will add red ribbons and accents of faux cranberries for a lively holiday ‘punch’. The pops of red coordinate with the red accents in the pillows. Lastly, I finish the space off with icicle lights daintily dripping from the screened in porch.
Fun fact: the lights were placed on the same hooks that my parents installed many years ago for their own Christmas lights. It brings a smile to my face as I remember them each year!
The Midwest may only give us a few unseasonably warm days each winter, but we make the most of them!
Many will spend them with a cup of coffee in the late morning. Perhaps a lunch blanketed by the warmth of their favorite sweatshirt. But, for me and my husband, the porch is a major draw in the evenings. Make your porch a family favorite this holiday season. Adding warm blankets to your furniture and joyful Christmas decorations all around create a holiday haven for all to enjoy. What better place to reflect on the joy of the holidays than snuggled up under a blanket and beautiful holiday lights?
When the scheduled timer brings the Christmas lights aglow at sunset, you will find us retreating to our little holiday haven.
From my front porch to your homes- wishing you the happiest of holiday seasons!
